Spent around 3 hours in Blue fixing things on S-Plus/Essplanade, and removed a dead fall on
Esspresso (y-y divide). Sorry haven't been back there
for a while. Will try to tidy up some more when the ground
is moist again.

Spent 3.5 hours with 3 of my co-workers and my manager in E. Fahnestock South section clearing one of the main trails leading down to the stone chambers.

1. Cut some more branches out of the duck under on the blue trail between 13 and 14. It seems to have sunk again. I expect I'll take a lot more out on the next ride. I don't trust it to stay put.
2. Cut a fallen tree on blue trail.
There's another fallen tree on the blue trail somewhere around 14. I didn't work on it yet. Looks like someone started a teepee on it, but I doubt it will work out. It might be ride-able without the teepee, but I expect someone would always try to ramp it. I'll cut it and remove it or leave it as a lower obstacle.

Replaced 1st few logs on bridge. I had a small 'log' lined up to ease into it from the rock joint, but it seems to have disappeared. I scavenged another one, but it's not as good. I used the cedars that 'Torque' provided. I hadn't noticed that they were split. Nicely done. The half round shape really works well. They'll stay stable even if they start to fray. The round logs start to wobble a bit if their friends wear away. The size of the cedars seemed just right to transition to the higher logs. Come to think of it, I could flatten the ends of the logs I have to stabilize them. I'll bet that's tricky to get right, though.

The log bridge is quaint, but we haven't had to do anything to the pressure treated bridges, except replace sections due to damage from falling trees...

Cleaned out more of the duck under on blue trail. I think it is stable now. There are couple trees still leaning over the trail, but I was afraid to cut them.
I cleared the fall on blue trail around 14. That might have been too aggressive of me. There were chain ring marks on it so I expect some people could ride it. I saw about 10 people go past and just walk it. About half thought it should go. One Pleasantville EMS guy really wanted it to go. It was somewhat high, and the teepee seemed iffy. There was no way to go around it. Could have been a mistake, but too late now.

Glad they worked, they were custom made.

The county parks should lay some item 4 along side that bridge to make a path though that wet area
and leave the bridge as the 'B'line.

Worked on log bridge with Torque. He's really good at this. He reworked the stone transition to the plank bridge. He provided (and split) cedar logs from his job. He cut other log ends to provide a flat base for stability. And drove nails with a sledge hammer. I'd guess we're about 1/3 to 1/2 done.

Removed scattered logs around bridge. Scavenged a couple logs for potential use as replacements. Debarked one of them.

3 other bikers stopped to help.

This one needs a bit more work. You can ride around or over, but its still across the trail and should be moved aside. Tomorrow...

Finished the fall across blue trail by 18.
Took about 2 hours to cut through it again. Amazing how much difference an inch or two in diameter makes. Still couldn't move it. Fortunately a couple more bikers showed up...

Thanks guys.

Note to self. Always carry an extra saw for 'guests'.
