Just got a request from the emergency responce folks to clear a route through the Park wide enough so that their new 6X6 vehicle can get to someone injured.
We may need some help with this. I will let you know.

I understand their attempts to cross it over the bridge at the park entrance did not work too well. They came in through the marble access road and off the saw mill at the grassy clearing pretty ok, no? Let me know your thoughts, I'm happy to help.

One caveat though, during the most recent incident, they insisted on trying to get the gators up orange/motorcycle, which to us familiar with the trail, is obviously more work than benefit. It was an unnecessary waste of time/resources, and not useful as they ended up ultimately carrying the injured down to blue anyway.

This is a great idea get to victim quickly stabilize them till more help comes
with less impact to the trail.

I think it is critical that we number the trail intersections to agree with the map that the EMS guys had on them.

Tim, what is the most expedient way to put numbered blazes on a tree at intersections?

All the intersections are numbered with spray painted numbers, maybe they need an updated map.

This project does need to be done at Blue as well.

I just downloaded, saved as jpegs, and saved on my phone in a Trailmaps folder the maps for GH and Blue which have the intersection numbers on them.

Considering this most recent event, not a bad thing to keep locally on your phone and quickly accessible.

Bumping this up.
Is there a plan to make access more efficient for first responders?
I know it's something we don't want to think about till it happens but with the popularity of mtb'n
the parks are getting crowded with incidents like this bond to happen again.

I'm willing to help make it happen.

I found this link, you can see how frustrating it is...http://www.emtbravo.net/topic/36505-gra ... st-rescue/

BTW I was there on Easter Sunday 2010 when this went down.
