It sucks. Rocks are getting pulled out if they can't be avoided. True lines have disappeared in many places eg the lower rock garden on upper white. :-(

Maybe we need to build some new age harder trails.

I don't know if you have noticed but three months out and -go a rounds- are already forming on Tumbleweed. been closing them off as soon as I see them as elsewhere in the park.

There were a couple spots where we compromised and left alternate lines knowing the way it is with some riders in there but I guess that wasn't good enough . I haven't been on upper white lately but I have witnessed with my own eyes as part of my thesis on obtaining my doctorate in hydrology the devastation heavy rains will do to that trail, like a flume pushing everything straight down. Makes a real mess afterwards where first riders choose an awry of lines.

This is happening everywhere around here not just the W'chester parks. Stravatards knocking off a second at a time... :(

Strava sucks. So many trails have been straightened by the quest for faster strava times. The damn thing is so inaccurate anyway that it is meaningless.
I've been adding debris to some of the short cuts to restore the original line but there are so many that it's hard to keep up. It's getting harder adn harder to even know where the original line was that normal riders are even taking the shorter line - that is the real tragedy in this.

Let's not get too down on the Strava users as I know I refuse to take any of the cut arounds that are appearing at Blue. I was away for about a month and I've noticed the same thing at Blue. I've been trying to close them down as I come across them too. Problem is they just get reopened. I think it has more to do with our growing cultural idea that everyone should be able to do whatever they want even if they can't so they make a short cut in order to "do it". Too many participation trophies were given out in the 90's and early 2000's. I've even noticed perfectly good sections of original trail being closed off and new re-routes appearing. Makes me happy for weekend traveling.

I plan on some signs for Farrington to address this. The true, original trail will be marked Pro and Trail Nazi/Stravatard line will be marked Wuss..........

It's not called Stravadouche because the ladies like it.

 If I knew how and had the means I would print, laminate and post these at the trail heads.
Never occurred to me that Strava might have something to do with this. :o

Rode GH today and saw some fresh dirt only 20 yards or so from the lot. Seems like someone pulled out a couple of decent sized rocks at the very first rocky section going up the short pink loop on the regular way in. Maybe we should all sell our MTBs and buy road bikes for riding there. sheesh.

How's this for an idea. If anyone happens to come upon someone performing "personal trail modifications" on any of our trails and the person won't undo their work or does not agree that they should not be modifying the trails, take a picture and along with a summary story send via personal message on this forum to the webmaster Bad Andy. Maybe a little public shaming will work. Oh, after you slyly take their picture....ride fast!
